But a lot of people didn't see that it was two different things. Look back at those threads...there were webmasters who had been promoting companies for a decade but didn't know about the practice of x-sells, suddenly doing test signups and screaming to the heavens about it and calling it "fraud". There were plenty of guys claiming that every and any x-sell was "fraud".
I was saying that x-sells had been around forever...are still around and very prevalent in mainstream and that meanwhile I was watching piracy take sales away.
From my interpretation of those "debates" (or lynchings), piracy was thought to be only a small part of the problem while shady credit card x-sells were the real culprit. When I pointed out that x-sells were nothing next to the real scams that have happened in this business to consumers (and I might add without affecting sales)...I was crucified. Mostly by "webmasters" who haven't been in this business half the time I have.
Piracy + economy are the problem. Bottom line is if you can find a paysite that you can make sales on...then push it. They are few and far between these days.
