As you may or may not know, the annual music/new media festival South By Southwest (or, in abbreviated hipster parlance, "SXSW") has begun the voting phase in its seminar selection process, and they are currently taking votes as to which proposed seminars should be included at the event.
Not so long ago, I submitted a proposal of my own, directed at people who have the essential skills and knowledge that it takes to become an adult webmaster, but who have not taken that plunge. (In other words, I'm trying to grow a new crop of newbies for us all to make fun of and take advantage of at the shows -- "Yes, yes it is traditional for the new guy to buy the first through fourth rounds when attending his first Internext....")
You can find a
description of the seminar that I've proposed here -- and if that link doesn't work, go to the
panel picker mainpage and search under "future smut" (the first two words of the seminar title).
So, why would you take a couple minutes out of your busy day to cast a vote for my proposal?
Well, maybe you'd like to see some new blood come into the adult market, in the hopes that they have some good ideas to offer, or new approaches to the market that could benefit us all.
Or maybe you'd just like to see SOME SXSW seminar, ANY SXSW seminar dedicated to the adult industry, in the hopes that such a seminar might increase the profile or legitimacy of the industry in the eyes of attendees and media who go to the event.
Or perhaps you're one of the unlucky legion who has been subjected to one of my meandering pseudo-lectures in the past and you'd like to share the pain with an unsuspecting SXSW audience.
Whatever your reasons, if you pop over and give my suggestion a 'thumbs-up' (in this case, literally), I'd really appreciate the support. The public vote is only part of the selection equation, of course (30% of the equation, to be precise), but every little bit helps.
So... um... well, "Rock the Vote" doesn't seem appropriate for this forum, so I'll go with "Go Fuck the Vote!"
