You can calibrate the speedo via the ECU - wtf chang ring and pinion
that is probably the dumbest fucking thing i've ever heard. You know you do not have to do that even in older cars - the speedo runs off a cable(older cars) hooked upto a gear that goes in the gearbox - change that!
It's a bit like changing the tyres to fix a blown headlight globe.
@ OP - Helping the motor breathe will give you better MPG. I added over radiator intake, extractors, exhaust and custom tune and all that increased MPG alot - not a clue on exact numbers.
