Your almost right, I have Vitilligo and it's not a disease it's a disorder it cannot be caught as one might catch a cold and is more than lightly associated with Thyroid irregularities i.e. Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism, some latest theories are that this condition is hereditary passed down from mother, grandmother even great grandmother.

In regards to psychological damage, Vitiligo can have a significant effect on the mental health of a person. Psychological stress may even result in an individual becoming more susceptible to vitiligo. People who are stigmatized for their condition may experience depression and similar mood disorders. Can you say Michael ?
