what's your exact question? Most plugins work (it's still WP), domain mapping works as long as it's done right. WPMU is one of the finest pieces of software ever made, at least for free. If you count the features and possibilities, there's almost no reason to use the single WP install, unless you're planning to concentrate on just one blog. Now, if you're working with the idea of a network (now or in the future), there's nothing that comes close to WPMU. Every time I see people bitching for having to upgrade 100 blogs (with backups and everything) I just smirk, the answer is as easy as "Use WPMU. It's done EXACTLY FOR THAT REASON!!!!"
