Did Joe off the street have his childhood basically nipped in the bud by intense fame and success? Did Joe off the street have to live in a bubble for all but a few years of his life without any "normal" people around him, without experiencing "normal" civilization? That kinda shit warps people, it warped him, it warped Elvis, it warps everyone who experiences that kind of gigantic fame.
I'm not blinded by anything, I think he was a very psychologically messed up person who made choices he didn't know were looked on as being "bad." I don't think he was a child molester, but I also don't think he was a role model, nor do I think most singers/actors/athletes are or should be considered role models.
