how someone backs up their own media is one thing and if i wanted to back up all of my porn via torrent which i would never do legally i can. i did buy it. i could also make it public too. just nobody legally would have any right to download it unless they also bought it.
i also do agree that the technology is primarly used for abuse and illegal sharing. not sure what he has said about that but it is what i feel and what i have seen. example i am pretty damn sure tens of thousands of people did not actually purchase the last version of photoshop the day it was released yet that many were sharing it. that is full on theft.
i am not sure about 100% of what he says as far as use etc. i just was speaking about how the actual copyright works along with such backups. i also feel there is indeed harm. that is why i went to a lawyer afterall. perhaps you may get some interested people via watermarks to visit your site, but otherwise it is harmfull.
oh correction. i have used a torrent in a test or two when i seeded it with some specially edited video that was more like a long comerical for my site. did not see enough type in increases to justify it so far. but then again it just takes me so long to edit such video and that is what really killed my idea of profitability.
