Once, my brother was kind of an idiot and was all into HYIPs (aka scam investment opps that are generally all ponzi schemes) and I think it was like $2k he got taken on through one of them. The person who ran it did get caught and...he was a 16 year old kid! Bilked hundreds of thousands from people and I know at least my bro never got his money back.
