BTW..."there is no substitute for victory" was applicable then and is applicable now and will always be applicable. The US did not follow that policy then and has not followed it since. If the politicians are going to engage our military forces...it should be as it was during the 2nd World War...with the full force of the US involved and unconditional surrender...or do not engage at all.
