The liberals are saying that if the bills do not include a public option, they are going to shoot it down. Does that mean they are against health care reform? No, it means they are against the way the bill is set up.
Nobody is against health care reform. Everybody thinks something must be done. Everybody has ideas on what must be done. The backlash is from people that don't understand what's going on and thinks that things are changing too fast. When the majority of the population has insurance that they are comfortable with and you come at them and say "things are going to change"... those people want to know what's going to change. So far, the Democrats have failed at reaching these people and showing them that nothing in their life will change for the worse. If they can find a way to do that, the whole game could switch pretty quickly.
The Republicans are playing dirty right now with silly media tricks. The Democrats are playing dirty right now with parliamentary and political tricks.
Neither of them are approaching this right.
