Which one? Was it "Rogue"? If so I found Rogue to be slightly enjoyable as well.
Maybe it's just the generation I grew up in, but there's something endearing about the 80's movies like Alligator or 70's movies like Night of the Leepus or Kingdom of the Spiders, that these movies just don't have.
I grew up watching really bad horror- like Food of the Gods bad horror movies- so I can look past pesky things like solid writing and production quality. For some reason these newer, CGI heavy "creature" flicks really REALLY stink. They aren't even entertaining to make fun of, there's just too much fodder, it's like picking on a retarded kid.
I mean, expanding to just newer horror and scifi in general, take Ed Wood, Plan 9 from outer space.. there's a paper plate stapled to a wall. In my mind the bar was set low for the genre at an early age. The Horror at Party Beach- it's a fish with hot dogs in it's mouth- love it. I love schlock, but I would rather chew off a limb than watch something like "alien apocalypse" again.
