Keep in mind they are reffering to the US market. Mobile is still doing great here in europe - music, tickets and even parking spots. People spend a lot of money on getting their services pluged in podcasts of popular radioshows. People pay lots of money for that, because it REALLY works. People buy stuff, order tickets or play online while.
People just need to understand how it works and how people use it.
One of the things that I see as the biggest holdup for US users, is the inability to use the phone directly as micropayment.
