If somebody feels they believe in Christian values, why should they let a bunch of snobby people from the congregation look down on them and stop them expressing their faith? Most, people I know that go to church are fantastic people. The really finger wavers are few and far between. That is said, as somebody that goes to church once every couple of years.

What if the criminal is going to church in the hope of salvation...? This would not be a contradiction. Perhaps the criminal is compelled to commit crimes, and is looking for Jesus to save him / her from themselves.
