I think it's all about money and power. Lot's of things are not visual or known for the public and the hawks are manipulating the world and economy.
Some things we will never know. For sure starting and continue wars is a big money maker and obviously some people did fill their pockets.
What I think quite strange is that after 9/11 the Saudi government and other people from that region invested heavily in the US.
