Look at any income graphs from the Reagan era until now and you will see that the rich have been getting richer... the poor have been getting poorer and the middle class is disappearing. Almost noone has a truly career employment position and our manufacturing base has left in droves... all in an atmosphere with the lowest tax brackets for the rich in almost a century.

The people who whine about "smaller government" have no real idea of what that means. It means a country like Mexico that has lots of resources but no real middle class because the government doesn't really serve the people as a whole. The fake cry of "socialism" is ridiculous... we have been a socio-capitalist country since the New Deal. Social Security and Medicare are a good thing... but without a middle class they are doomed... because they are the primary contributors and recipients. I don't want to live in a country with no middle class... because it is a country that will be made up of "plantations" and "plantation workers". The middle class gives our country balance and is the foundation of it's successes.
