Well known Chess tournament organizer Bhausaheb Padsalgikar (90) passed away at his residence on Monday. He was the only chess player who was honored with 'Shivchatrapati', 'Dadoji Kondadev' and 'Jeevangourava' awards by the state government. Padsalgikar, known to the chess fraternity as Bhausaheb, was born in a chess family. Every chess player from India, including Viswanathan Anand, had visited Sangli for chess tournaments organized by him. Padsalgikar was one of the founders of the Maharashtra Chess Association and also served as its Secretary sometime.
