finding people like that who aren't just hanging on for the money or cause you have money is VERY hard to find indeed. 
I got burned many times on that point by many people.
One of the best indicators of the quality of a person is watching how they treat people who they have no vested interest in. It's easy to get led astray by someone who wants to be your friend and wants you to see certain things, but as you get to know someone watch closely at how they treat the people they don't need to suck up to, or hit on. How they treat those people is a clear indicator of who you are dealing with. Also watch what happens when things go wrong. Things always go wrong, human nature - it's how people deal with it that determines what kind of person they REALLY are. Anyone can be a good person when things are good, the REAL determination is what kind of person they are when things are bad, and if they try and help others when they are in a bad situation themself.
