Its really really easy if you have good self control. I was working out and running 3 miles, 5 days a week and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing any weight.
I had a hard long look at my diet and there was my answer.
The average person burns about 2,500 calories per day, more if you are over-weight because your body has to work harder. 3,500 calories equals 1 pound of fat on your body. So do the math...
Here is an example below of how I used to eat. Adds up to 4,810 calories and I didn't even really pig out. I was burning probably about 3,500 calories naturally and another 1,000 by working out and running. At the end of the day I still had a surplus of 300+ Calories so even with working out and running 5 days per week I was still putting on a pound of fat every 10 days or so.
Breakfast - Two bowls of cereal 2% milk = 500 Calories
Mid afternoon snack - bagel = 400 Calories
Lunch - Carls Jr Chicken sandwich w/ Fries and coke = 1,200 Calories
Before dinner snack - Peanut Butter and Jelly w/ glass of milk = 600 calories
Dinner - Pizza 4 slices w/ 2 servings of Juice = 1,310
4 Beers and pretzels = 800 Calories
= 4,810 calories
If I wasn't working out, I would have put on a pound every 2-3 days eating like this.
Hope this helps.
