But seriously...if you're on a weight loss program, liquor (as you obviously know) is a good thing to avoid. Full of calories.
What you need to do to keep your sanity is just pick one night out a week. And don't make it a bender. Just drink lite beer and enjoy some social time out with adults. I only have time to get out once a week. But if I don't get out of the house and away from work and just have a few beers and maybe watch a band play...I go nuts.
