For 2257safe guys, I have a couple of questions.
1) What exactly am I uploading to your server? So I have a video of some girl, let's call her Shamiqua :-). I have Shamiqua's video in low and high res format as it is in my members area. I only have to upload the low res version, right? In fact, I could even encode a third version of really low quality and that would be OK, right?
We actually compress the video down 90% so whatever you upload with become very low res anyway. You probably shouldnt upload the low res since we will need a clear, albeit small, version for inspection purposes.
2) What URL's do I need to put in there? If I'm using you, I can just have the same link on every page of my site, every FHG, every everything, linking it to my 2257 page which then gives your information, right? I went thru your demo, not sure why I need to add every URL in there. I'm sure it's a good reason, I'm just not seeing it right away.
You should use us on all your compliance notices if we are your only third party record keeper. As for the URLs, thats what the law calls for and thats why the program was coded the way it is. The URLs need to be indexed and cross referenced.
3) What assurances do I have that you guys will be in business a year from now? You're a brand new company asking customers to hand over a tremendous amount of valuable data. I'm concerned that you shut down one day and poof, I'm non-compliant.
That is always a concern with any new business. We began the design phase in December 2008. We pre-launched in April and launched in June. So we are ten months in and things are going well. I certainly have plans to be here in 10 years or as long as 2257 is good law.
We recommend that clients always keep a hard copy backup of everything for several reasons. If you have your own copy you will never be non-compliant. You will only need to change the address on your notice. As for the data, again, we compress everything down 90% so it is not as valuable as you may think once it is compressed. We are not in the business of content. Thats why we are hosted on PCI-DSS servers that are extremely difficult to hack. Security is our utmost concern.
4) I have all of my 2257 info in hard copy. To get set up on your service, I basically need to scan everything and upload it and then assign it to the right girls, scenes, etc? Kind of a pain in the ass and probably worth the effort but any chance you offer some sort of data entry service for records going back a couple of years?
We will not be offering that service ourselves since we do not want there to be a conflict of interest. We are not in the data input business, however we are looking for a solid company that we can refer potential clients to for this type of situation. This comes up frequently with our larger clients. Since you need to make sure the input is correct we recommend you do it yourself. It may take a few days to upload and set up but in the long run, it is vastly easier than the alternative. We can help with data transfer if some of your records are digital though. We have done that for our larger clients as well.
Further, if you ever sell your company, having everything with us will make the transfer much more smooth. And if you want to sell some content the same applies.
Hopefully that answers your questions. If not please feel free to email me as well at michael(at)fattlegal.com
