I commend you. It is the hardest job you will probably ever have. From the sounds of it, you are doing a great job. Sometimes you might not feel like you are getting the chance to live your life to the fullest but I guarantee when you look back you feel much better about yourself when you realize that shaping your son's future was SO much more important that getting laid or going out to party.
As far as what is harder/easier....in my opinion, the younger years were harder. My daughter is 8 now. She is much more self sufficient now, which makes it easier. So you will eventually find a little more time for yourself. Although I can see already that the teenage years will be full of it's own set of drama.
