Wrong!! Who told you that? What was his education? Attorney? Think not. Haven't you herd that "ignorance of the law is no excuse?" Have you really thought what that really means?
If i screw around with a girl under the age of 18 and i truly believe that she is 18 and she even shows me ID that she is 18 and in fact she is not, i still broke the law in the eyes of the court. Statutory rape, i will be charged and me saying. "but she said she was 18" wont save me.
Same fact pattern; with you writing up your opinion or someone else's opinion or untruth as fact and in fact it is untrue and causes measurable damages to a particular person, you will be liable for any and all damages that your libelous statements made.
You can say or write anything you want as long as its an opinion. Opinions start as such; I think, I feel that, I believe that, in my opinion it is, etc.
Or you can even start, I read "this", "that" and the "other" on a girls blog, but at this time i have not been able to substantiate the stated claims that were made on her blog. (that is responsible reporting)
If you really want to be taken seriously and not put your neck on the chopping block every time you write something, i recommend read a few how to books and get yourself an AP(associated press) Style hand book.

If you are gonna quote a source you need to check their sources for accuracy. The court dosnt care if you are cautious. They care if you broke the law or if your right of free speech has infringed onto someone else's rights.

Dont ever believe what you hear or read, believe what you can prove or disprove. And you are another Skeeter Kerkove. Instead pulling shit out of your ass, you are retransmitting and publishing for others to read, what someone else has pulled out of their ass.
The court does not see a difference between the 1st person to publish libelous statements or the 2nd. If 10 people republish the same libelous statements and the court finds that statements are in fact not true and damages can be measured, all 10 can be liable for damages.
Usually im a dick and would come after you because you annoy me with some of the stupid shit you write, but i really feel that you should be informed to what is what.
