Variety is reporting Adrien Brody has been set by 20th Century Fox to play the heroic mercenary who battles alien hunters in “Predators,” a reboot of the “Predator” franchise that is being creatively spearheaded by Robert Rodriguez.
Brody will star with Alice Braga ("I Am Legend"), Danny Trejo (upcoming "Machete"), Walt Goggins ("The Shield"), UFC Fighter Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("The 4400"), and Louis Ozawa. The Hollywood Reporter says that Topher Grace ("That 70s Show") is also in negotiations to join the cast.
Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.
Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent. Trejo is a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.
Nimrod Antal is directing, and filming is about to get underway on location in Hawaii and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.
Fox has set the film for release July 9, 2010.

Adrian Brody and Danny Trejo directed by Rodriguez sounds pretty golden. Predator 2 is fun to watch and laugh at, but the original is the only one really worth it's salt IMO. Predator really is such an awesome creature / villian. I'm almost psyched, but don't want to get my hopes up just yet. Hollywood tends to have a way of fucking things up that look REALLY good on paper.
