It is a tabloid in the strict sense where it is defined by the shape and size of the newspaper. Ie..it is not a broadsheet newspaper. It is, however, not a tabloid such as most Americans would classify them as being like the National Enquirer.
Now, that said..it is total and utter crap. It and its rivals such as The Sun cater to the total lowest denominator of public opinion. They have no problem doing half truths in stories as long as it fits their agenda. Also, well known to be a very racist paper (as is the Sun too btw). I would never, ever pay for either. Sadly, many do and form their opinions totally based on the rubbish journalism.
The Sun is owned by the same people that own Fox News and it takes the similar stance of trying to pass commentary off has actual journalism. Then the rival papers such as The Mirror and the Daily Mail go to similar rubbish levels to try to compete.
