With the Winter Solstice in 2012 comes the end of our current 26,000 year solar cycle. The Sun will directly align with the Milky Way.
The earth's rotation may hit 13 cps and begin rotating the opposite direction, leading to an inversion of the magnetic poles.
Many people would die if that occurred, but it will not be the end of the world.
