I'll replace brandy with something else

I used to take this but haven't for awhile. Although I do take multi-vitamins when I remember.

(What I used to do whenever I had a cold coming on....)

Get into the bedroom (got a space heater? throw it on OR crank up the heat) Put on a outfit (something comfy) shirt, pants (sweats are better) and SOCKS! Wrap yourself up in as many blankets as you can stand, and get yourself to SWEAT!

drink plenty of fluids during this! after about a good hour or two (or more if you can handle it) of sweating, get up, wash your clothes and bedding and then turn the heat back down and take a nice nap.

normally the next day I'm back up and running!

(As odd as this may sound it works great for me lol)

I do this too - sometimes run the shower and sit in there with clothes in and sweat. Steam and warmth definitely help but do not cure.
