I don't need a solid state drive or any other fancy nonsense, just a good solid rig for occasional gaming and compiling / everyday work.

US$2300 - HP Pavilion DV7-3007TX laptop features a 17.3" screen, the new Intel Core i7 quad core 1.6GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 1000GB HDD, Blu-ray ROM/DVD burner combo, 1GB graphics, 17.3" screen, Bluetooth and the Windows 7 Home operating system.

I might up the Ram to 6Gb or 8Gb, although I'm not convinced it's really necessary.

Will run 64 bit Win 7 on it.

Can anyone recommend anything better? (no MAC clowns pls, I want a proper machine for work with grown ups)
