Did you go to Cade's Cove? Apparently it is like Jurassic Park there in the early morning and dusk.
We talked to a couple people that saw bears (cub up a tree, and a mother and cub crossing the road). All we got were deer and wild turkeys.
Next time we will stay a little longer and make sure we at least get some bear shots.
