LAX is one of the worst. Last week it was voted one of the five worst airports by frequent travellers. My only advice there would be to be there for your flight out well in good time and be prepared for long lines. If you can upgrade at a reasonable cost, do it! With that you get the business class check-in counters, with very short lines, and depending on what carrier you're on, you can get fast-track-security and not having to wait with the rest of the herd.

A busniess class ticket could also get you lounge access, as the terminal is awful and full of noise, a lounge is a real life saver since you of course got there in good time, only to have to wait around for the flight. If you fly 5-10 times a year or so, you might not qualify for a gold membership at one of the airlines, but instead, go ahead and purchase Priority Pass, https://www.prioritypass.com as it will give you either free entrence, or at least for a symbolic sum entrance at many lounges accross the nation and some even world wide. Well worth it, especially if flying just a few times a year!

ICT, never been, but isn't that like Wichita or something? Don't have any relation to it, so I can't really say either way. But generally speaking, smaller to mid-sized local or regional airports usually put the customer first and you get a fair and nice treatment. Delays are almost unheard of, other than those multiplying out from the large hubs, and luggage is seldom lost. All in all, an airport of choice, with all the amemnities like restaurants, rental cars, and short lines, staff which are not over worked and who actually treats you with a sincere and honest "Welcome" and an occasional smile. They know their job depends on happy travellers and most of the time do a very fair job. At the larger airports, you're just one of many millions and they could care less.
