today is the day of the armenian genocide
This day in 1915, the turkish invasion of armenia began. 1.5 million armenians murdered. First genocide of the modern days, of the 20th century.
the turkish empire used world war 1 as a "reason" or an "excuse" to attack the armenians.
in one of his speeches, Hitler quoted "who remembers the armenians anyways", because to this day, it is not recognized by many countries and mostly by the turkish government
Among the countries who recognize the genocide, we have : Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Russia, Sweeden and Vatican City. we hope to add more on the list so we can get our lands back.
every 24th of april, canadian folks gather in ottawa to march in front of the turkish embassy and demand our lands back.
just a bit of history for you, you can look it up on google if you wish, many interesting articles about it.
My prayers go out to the 1.5 million murdered.
