The new generation of teenagers who spend their lives on social networks is pretty much the dumbest of the 20th century. It's safe to say after we reached our peak in the 50s and 60s, it's been going to shit ever since.

I'm not sure when we reached out peak, but I have to agree that many of the kids these days are just dumb and heavily to blame is the school system. My nephew is a junior in high school. He is in the "slow" program which means if an assignment is due on the 15th and he doesn't have it done, they give him another week to do it. He has failed about 35% of his classes and yet is still on target to graduate. When he was in 8th grade he failed every class except PE and they still graduated him. Much of the blame for that is because if they don't move them on, they don't get paid so they lower the standards and just push them through like cattle. Also heavily to blame is his mom who will do his homework for him and doesn't care if his girlfriend does his homework for him and doesn't think it is a big deal that he is 16 and can't read well enough to pass the learners permit test for driving.

Crime is certainly not down, learning is certainly not up, birth rate is certainly not down, where are you getting this? And what you're talking about is inflated wealth, NOT real wealth, and technological improvement which is a logical progression. HARDLY an argument for our society being better.

The crime rates right now are actually the lowest they have been in about 20-25 years.

Absolutely, and they think society has gone to shit. They loved their 70s and 80s. They loved the intellectual stimulation through books, spending days outside doing random activities. Not like today where it's social networks and obesity.

It used to be that if someone pissed you off you didn't talk to them anymore or you punched them in the mouth. Now you de-friend them on facebook and tell everyone you did so on twitter. It is sad.
