I had a problem with my new Macbook less than 2 weeks ago. I took it to the store and they handed me a new one.

Went home, ran the time machine and was back up and running that afternoon with zero loss.

ALWAYS backup.

It's an easy thing to do but often overlooked. That's why I LOVE my time capsule.
