vBulletin is getting filled with more extra useless crap every time - I'm waiting for 4.0 to be released to the public so I can digg through the sourcecode, but personally, even though I own a license, have never been a fan of vBulletin. I'm an IPB guy all the way, and to me, it's the best forum software out there on the market - why people have always been so against it beats me, so much cleaner and the admin panel rocks! More people have been moving over to IPB recently so maybe i will convert all my vB forums to IPB too.
