The normal flu can do that as well, just like the h1n1 doesn't put everyone in the hospital.
Speaking of the flu, the normal flu has killed roughly 600-800 people in the last "week" in America alone. Already this year the normal flu in America has killed more Americans, than the h1n1 has killed world wide in over two years.
