It is usually impossible to tell what gender they are. You can't go by the names on the credit cards because everyone knows that a lot of guys use their wives/girlfriends credit cards to sign up for sites.
As for the threads question. Depends on what niche it is. Females still tend to stick to the traditional things like lesbian porn. You will get some women who sign up to gay male sites (usually the ethnic gay sites) They also frequent swinger/orgy kind of sites too. As for straight up hardcore, it can get a little overwhelming for a lot of women checking out porn.
Personally text that goes "Grab your cock and ....." is not a good idea because you are making the assumption that every guy wacks off to porn. Now I am sure most do, but I can see that text intimidating some guys, make some feel guilty or it hits to close to home. You will also get the odd one that is "who the hella re they to assume what I do when I watch movies"
