Earlier this week or late last we, there was a big thread that someone started and gideon want making a fool of himself in. Swearing up and down (along with many other people) that an IP address is not enough evidence to go to trial on someone. GG was also fighting with me and others and besides not understanding how lawsuits work which was funny. He said the higher up courts ruled that it can not be used (IP addresses) as they have no for sure way of knowing who was using that IP for real.
How can it work in reverse?

Facebook requires a login which provides a stronger case for identifying who was using the computer. Of course it could have just been left logged in...
BTW the accused is a male.
