This weekend was the
Italian Car Track Day at Daytona International Speedway.
They rent the track and then you pay to drive your car on the same course they use for the Rolex 24 hour endurance race
which includes the high banked turns. You are put in one of three groups based on experience and then you get several sessions
on the track throughout the day. It said it was for Italian cars but there were other cars there as well.
The weather was perfect and I spent the whole day roaming the track with my camera
I spent a lot of time near the track entrance and it was fun to see what came driving in next.
The entrance is a tunnel that goes under the track and as they drove in the engine sounds were magnified X 10
How cool would it be to be able to take your car out on the track at Daytona and let it do what it was built for.
You better be able to handle the consequences if you run out of talent before your car does
There were a few Bentleys and they seemed to be right at home with all the Ferrari and Lamborghinis.
Imagine hitting the high banked turns as fast as your car can go. This guy didn't have to because he was there.
This man traveled from Saudi Arabia to drive his Bugatti Veyron on the track. He had an instructor in the passenger seat
and still managed to spin it out in one of the tight turns but by the end of the day he was up to speed with the rest of them
Legendary Italian car test driver Valentino Balboni was giving rides all day long in this beautiful Lamborghini and
gave every passenger their money's worth as he pushed the car to the limit often bringing the back end around for a little slide action
I can't think of a better way to experience your exotic than a track day at daytona
