in my experience, a genuine apology can be delivered via any medium and the request was made in public via this medium.
the components of an apology that make it sincere are it has to be direct, the way the apology is issued, i.e. no *IF i did something, i apologize* but a * i did this and i apologize for it*
and the other crucial part is an attempt to make whole.
it appears to me the op did that.
