Great point, I didn't realize that this wasn't included above!

The basic concept is simple. You can serve flash from any server but serving it well requires special software. If you are using Apache or lightttpd to serve your flash content then the surfer is downloading the whole file in the background while they may or may not be jumping around to different play points in the video. When you use Wowza Media Server to deliver your Flash content the user is literally able to jump around to different play points, thereby reducing your total bandwidth consumption. In scale this does put a higher load on on the CPU and Disk of your server but we of course design solutions for our clients which scale and work properly. By our experience we have seen pre/post savings of 10-35% in total bandwidth consumption.
