It is a HUGE deal.
It shows Obama as the weaker and less important person. As deep as it was, it was a servants bow. Unless you are OK with the President of the United States, submitting to the Emperor of Japan, then you don't have anything to worry about.
It also shows the lack of experience Obama really has. It was amateur hour and Obama is the laughing stock of Asia right now. It's all over TV. One of the most powerful men in the world, just gave a servants bow to the Emperor of Japan. Nobody of such power bows like that. Also note that the Emperor of Japan did now bow back. Japanese culture would say that out of respect, Obama should get a bow back, but Obama gave too deep a bow and the Emperor of Japan would NEVER return such a thing.
The President of the United States is a rank amateur and he's now showing it, one bow and dumb move at a time.
