lets see... my uncle (is my age) was in the Navy. he spent his time working on / rebuilding jet engines for aircraft.
free food
free housing
very good pay
paid for a substantial part of his college education
got very good training and could have had his choice is great jobs after the service
his hobby while in the service?.... racing motorcycles (crotch rockets) and traveling the US to races everywhere.
hmmm... now that i think about it... i guess i should send him 100.00
