the human psyche is a fascinating thing.
what is more preferable to believe?
that you have super powers, absolute control over others, that you're vastly superior to others, more intelligent than others (or even more intelligent than the collective intelligence of large groups of people)... and that you're the son of god... OR.... that your just some random guy with nothing to offer the world, and who isn't liked or respected by others, including family.
what is easier?
to continue to believe that fake reality (which you do believe/allow yourself to believe is real)...
or
to break down, be willing to throw it all away and to seek out help. help, which means the certain destruction of every delusion you've constructed...leaving you with nothing but an empty shell of a man, who's wasted most of his life and who has no respect, no friends, no love, no family and very little to offer the world.
if you think you can get him to see things for how they are, that's highly unlikely to happen. there is nothing in it for him at this point, except immeasurable disappointment in reality, moral / emotional defeat and chronic depression.
