Is that your lawyer's advice?

And who said the requested an interview vs wanted him for questioning? A newspaper reporter?
Lets say you get drunk and you head on another car. It is loaded with a family and they are all hurt with internal injuries but no blood. At this point you have two things you are legally obligated to do. 1) Seek medical attention for the injured persons. OK, knock on a door and tell them to call 911. 2) Report the accident to the authorities within 24 hours.

So now you can leave. Run down the street and around the corner and have a friend give you a ride. Hang at his house until the next morning. Go to the police station and inform them you were in an accident.

You have now met all of the legal requirements. There is nothing they can do about your drinking because they cannot prove it. It is the law and anyone with a good attorney would have received this advice if they made the call to their attorney directly after an accident.
