Strange, my copy of trillian cooks me breakfast..
I actually had the same problem with trillian professional, I believe they offer an update on their website which supposedly fixes the ICQ issues.
Not sure why I gave up trying to install the update, and getting it to work properly, but I somehow reverted back to ICQ Client 6.5. I would check trillian's website though, there is most likely a known issue.
