Type-in traffic is only one factor, but an even bigger factor is SEO which these days is worth more than type-ins. You are also right that if you advertised it, it would have a much higher recall rate than less memorable names, just like with vanity 1-800 phone numbers here in the US (1-800-FLOWERS, etc.). What you paid for the domain is irrelevant at this point, all you can do is focus on recouping your investment and hopefully making a profit from either a developed site or sale of the domain or both.
Your best bet is first to set up a white label site for this domain (I would highly recommend Streamate, as I am using them right now and couldn't be happier with the results), and then sit back patiently waiting for your traffic and revenue to grow. Having good content on your domain would help build up it's rankings in the serps, making it worth more to a potential buyer if you decide to sell.
