It's probably based on the ethnicities of the kids they have wanting to be mentored and who is already employed there.
If it's a organization that focuses on diversity (as it sounds like), for example, they may want to pair up the kids with mentors of a different sex or ethnicity. A white male mentoring a white male wouldn't fall into that category, and if most of the children in the program are white males...
I seriously doubt that their requirements are based solely on WE HATE WHITE MALES or something, but if feeling victimized makes you feel cooler, I won't stop you.
