thinking this over this actually reminded me of one of my pet peeves, when a company uses video to put out some important information, when text would be way more efficient....
I hate having to watch through a video when I actually want information (google adsense did that recently, I clicked on something they said would give more info on a certain issue and was led to a video on the topic... I closed it 3 seconds in, I would have scanned a text block about the topic but I was not interested in sitting through some stupid video about it) 
anyways, good luck with the review site guys, just like I'll wish luck on anyone else that is running a review site out there, there are lots of good ones to choose from (although this one might get more interest from webmasters because of it's angle at the moment) |
I don't think it's "just another review site". Just another review sites consist of 1 dude telling you " I give this site amn 87 out of 100" or " 4 out of 5 stars". The main reason for most review sites it to make money from SE traffic. Their reviews are bullshit.
The "video" allows you to see the members area, without paying. That is the only part about this site that really has to do with the videos. But the fact that they do it all on video tells you that they are serious about it and not just trying to throw shit on a page to get SE traffic. The other really cool parts is the fact that they actually sign up to the site with a credit card. how many other review sites do that?
So let's compare:
most review sites: ask for a free password and tell you what is in the members area.
this review site: signups with a credit card and shows you what is in the members area.
By signing up with a credit card then can then tell you if the site will bang the fuck out of your credit card or not and if they will send you tons of spam. Two extremely important things that a surfer would like to know that the other review sites can't help them with.
The "slam dunk" comment was is if this review site could get people in the habbit of always going to their review site to peak into the members area and check to see if the site bangs their card/spams them to hell, before the person signs up to any porn site. If even a small percentage of porn buyers would always go to the review site first before buying they would make a killing. The other review sites are more of a place where people go to look for something new to try, this review site is where people would go to check out every site they are about to buy from. huge difference between the two...
