Of coz they speak Thai.....it would be weird for them to speak in English among themselves. If you are in a foreign country...of coz it is up to you to learn their language. So if a French dude visits US, you expect him to continue to speak in French among your friends? Of coz he will have to learn English to blend in. You also need to eat the local food and try to follow as much as the local culture. You can't be living there and expect to have all the things you have in your own country. I bet Thai people will complain there's lack of good Tom Yum in USA or Europe.
