Society puts celebs on a pedestal and that along with their body of work gives them a face.
Whether it's music, acting or sports it's something that the majority of people with access to some type of media can relate to.

On the other hand with the exception of the top brass, soldiers are faceless.

It truly is ass backwards and a shame.

I believe that people like Soldiers, Teachers, Doctors and good leaders are the true heros and should be treated as such. I'd much rather see a really great teacher get an NBA player's salary instead of the relatively small change they get now for such an important position.

So when a person dies that's in the public's eye people talk about it because they are someone most can relate to in one way or another. It doesn't mean their death was any more important than that of a soldier the public doesn't know.
