Under $100K for Domains.com would be a joke. $500K - $1 million is more like it. Aftermarket.com, a far worse name, sold for over $100K to a domain company. Hell, there's probably many mere domain investors out there who would pay well over $100K for it just to hold, monetize and resell.
I will say this - the owners are probably looking for mid-7 figure, which I don't think is doable right now. The large registrars have established brands and wouldn't buy it except for the type-in traffic, and I just don't think there's a player-in-waiting in the industry willing or with enough money available to fork out what the owner will want for it. Financing is probably the only way a deal will be reached.
